Communication Breakdown

Communication breakdown can be a big headache.

You’re expecting an email from your client, but the email never came. Have you lost the deal?

You’re expecting a sms message from your hubby, but the message never came. Has he reached office savely?

You’re expecting a call from your daughter from the public phone at school, but 10:00 am flies, is she alright at school?

You’re expecting a card on your birthday from a dearest friend, but the postman never came, is she not your best friend anymore?

Please, please, please.. never depend too much on communication. Remember these three words :

TRUST RESPONSIBILITY BACKUP

Always trust ALLAH for the best, as long as you keep requesting thru your DOA.

Always perform your responsibility with due respect and without asking for return.

Always have backup plans if your ordinary means of communication failed.
Let me think...A pigeon perhaps??

Pangkor Island

I heard in the news recently about Pangkor Island has lost its attraction. I've been there in two occasions. First time, with family, during school holiday and the second one on company trip, weekday/weekend.

As a beach lover, I love the island. Clean beach and well maintained, not too much development, friendly local, lovely seafood, good bargain for souvenirs, good bargains for chalets and hotels, what else...
View the lovely pics I took during my visit last year and recently.. Magnificent!

We have talent!

We always under estimate ourselves. We tell ourselves that we are not capable of doing things, we are not beautiful, and we don’t have the talent. Yes, we always say we are not talented. How many of us willing to speak in front of others or sing a song. We’ll say, ‘Nawww, I don’t have talent. I can’t sing. Suara I tak sedap. ‘ Another example, can you image yourself building a raft, and row to the ocean to fetch a bottle? You will definitely say that you can’t do it, you are afraid cause you don’t know how to swim, you don’t know how to tie a raft, you don’t know how to row and million other reasons, or shall I say, excuses!

We all have talent. It is just that we always like to hide it.

We always like to be down, and be reserved.

Why can’t we be just like this tree? Although alone in the world of green, it stood still at the root, contribute as part of the jungle, standing tall, free and pride.

Cause everybody has talent!

The Gift For You and Me

A good friend of mine called yesterday. She told me the sweetest news I’ve ever heard ever since I came back from Umrah. She is now pregnant after 6 years of marriage!

Allah’ gift is so great. I can feel the rahmat given to her, as if it is partly given to me. Thank you Allah, for giving such a happiness for her and me to share. Alhamdulillah…

Link it to the email I received recently, which reads as below:

Bila Allah cepat makbulkan doamu, Maka DIA menyayangimu,

Bila Allah lambat makbulkan doamu, Maka DIA ingin mengujimu,

To my dearest friend makwe, enjoy the feeling dear!

Happy Teacher's Day

Wish all the teachers out there a very happy Teacher’s Day.

Of all the teachers I had in my life from Primary School till University, there’s one teacher whom I always remembered and had touched my heart. Her name is Mrs. Leong, my English teacher back in Standard 5. She taught us with her heart and always motivated us to learn from heart. She is the only teacher in my life whom I had the heart to buy present for Teacher’s Day. I bought her a small oil lamp and I could see how she appreciated it. I was not outspoken back in Standard 5, and I was not even fluent in speaking English at that time, but I know, when she received my present, that was my heart talking, thanking her whole heartedly.

The late Mrs Leong was laid to rest some years ago due to cancer. To my dear friends Selena and Beatrice, hope you two have the same courage and inspiration as your mom.

Mother's Day & Temasya Sukaneka 2008 SKBK

We had a pleasant weekend. Yesterday, we had a small celebration of Mother’s Day. BabyF gave me a clip she made in Art class, a card and a carnation she bought at school’s bookshop. Daddy contributed a bouquet of carnation with teddy bear and also a cute and yummy coffee cake. Thanks dear.

Then, there’s Temasya Sukaneka 2008 for SKBK. Very lively and joyful for the kids to unwind before the mid term exam which starts tomorrow 13-May-2008.

Good Luck !

Today is BabyF's Birthday

Happy 8th Birthday my dearest BabyF! May your birthday fill with happiness and joy.

It was a tradition for us to have the cake cutting and birthday gifts giving after maghrib on the eve of the birth date. It’s like a Muslim calendar where the new date starts after maghrib. We made her stay in the room while we lit the candles and arrange the gifts. HE HE HE Not so surprising, but still quite thrill for anyone celebrating birthday…

Mommy gave her Barbie Mariposa (to add to her collection) and a cute box of decorative papers and Daddy gave her a white-gold necklace with a cute diamond-love pendant and a stalk of red rose. She was speechless… She doesn’t like to wear jewelry, so she said ‘ Thank God it’s not gold.’ HA HA HA (don’t tell her white-gold IS gold!)

We’re giving away jajan to classmates at SKBK and another cake and jajan at nursery.

Enjoy the day sayang

Kullu nafsin zaaikatul maut

Last Saturday, 03-May-08, we received a call from home that our uncle passed away at hospital Kuala Terengganu. We were shocked. Yes, he was admitted at the hospital on Thursday, 1-May-08 due to vomiting. He cannot consume anything, every time he ate, he will automatically vomit it back.

We thought it was only minor food poisoning. He could walk, talk and not bedridden or in a coma or something. In fact, just a few minutes before he passed away, he was having conversation with relatives who visited him at the hospital. Then suddenly, he went out of air. He had history of asthma, so, no big deal, even the doctor was right beside him at that time, preparing to give him a jab. Even the doctor was shocked and asked the late ‘ What happen pak cik?’

Allah knows best and His promise is true. When the time comes, not even 1 second will lapse. In his death certificate, the cause of death is written as ‘sepsis with intestinal obstruction’. May Allah bless him. Al-fatihah

So, many activities have been lined up for this weekend. Saturday, art and ballet class for BabyF in the morning, swimming and gym in the afternoon.  Sunday, attend religious class in the morning and back to hometown in the afternoon.

Most importantly, welcome to blogsphere to MR BASTENG!  We need people like you in the cyber world…

Faraid

Today I have to meet Amanah Raya to sign some papers pertaining my late father’s legacy. It is somehow a mixed feeling. To receive something out of losing somebody very important in my life is not what I wish for. I haven’t talked about the loss for quite some time. Five years to be exact. It was so painful to dig back all the memories, be it bitter or sweet. I just want to keep it deep inside me and remember it just the way it was.

One of the reason I started writing a blog is to share my past memories to the rest of the world. That’s what I thought I could do. However, now that I’m writing this entry, I feel that I don’t have the courage to do that just yet. Although I know I’m the only one reading my own blog, I still couldn’t find the strength to share the intimate thoughts and memories of my love one to the world. The poem I wrote in the previous entry entitle ‘When I think of the day’ is a dedication to my late father who had guided me to be the person I am today… Al –Fatihah…

Coming back to the main topic, you can get detail explanation on faraid at

Fate or Choice?

So much has been said and wrote about the Maths prodigy, Sufiah Yusof. Anybody who reads the newspaper or internet would know about this young lady, 23 years, who, by fate, or by choice, has made a wrong choice in life. The full story can be viewed here. It is another sad story and we as Muslim around the world feel the heat.

Although we do not know what triggers her to make the decision, here are some thoughts that could be considered to overcome or at least, to avoid being lost in life :

1. Let our children enjoy their childhood.
2. Happy families mattered most and avoid broken marriage.
3. Be a Muslim, by practical.
4. Get help or talk to somebody about your hardship. Let it out.
5. Write a blog.

Believe it or not, there are so many ‘Sufiah’ out there in our country. The only difference is that they are not given the publicity like what Sufiah is getting right now. Sometimes, we do make mistake in our life, but it is again back to us to admit it, regret it, correct it, and our commitment not to repeat. Whatever hardship we are facing, just remember that we are not alone. There is a whole bunch of people out there that we might not know, having the same problem as us. Go back to our Creator, for He will show us the path.

Family Day at Marina Cove Resort

We had a pleasant weekend to mark the end of school holiday at Lumut, Perak. The unforgettable Family Day at Marina Cove Resort, Teluk Batik, Lumut, Perak. Along the journey on the sunny Saturday afternoon, there were palm plantation, paddy field, sky-scraping coconut trees and enough signboards for us to reach the resort.

Some of the activities there were tele-match with lots and lots of prizes, especially for the children. For the little ones, everybody got a prize even in forth place. For the adults, sorry, first, second and third place only got a prize… However, none of us leave empty-handed. At night, we enjoyed the delicious BBQ dinner with roasted lamb and a hilarious karaoke session. The night ended with a hamper for each family to indulge with during late night supper.

On Sunday, we had a terrific sunbath and water activities at the Marina Water Park. Although it cannot be compared to Sunway Lagoon, it is efficient for everybody to have a great deep in the pool, gelongsor air and water ball.
Thanks a lot to the committee members who had organized such a wonderful event and hope it will continue next year!

The Polling Day

Today is the Polling Day for Malaysia’s General Election 2008. It is a very important day for the citizen of Malaysia to exercise their right and cast their vote for the candidate or party that they feel can manage the country well. How do we choose our leaders? Based on the party they represent? Based on the leadership they shown? Based on the candidates’ characteristic and persona?

We heard about candidates who go and meet the voters during the campaign period, but do they do the same after winning?

We heard a lot of promises to serve the people, but do they keep their promise after winning?

We heard lots of stories of corrupted leaders, most of them get away with it, but why do we keep voting these corrupted leaders?

We heard how they abuse their power to get all the wealth they can get during their tenure, but why do we still don’t learn?

All these questions should be answered first before we vote for the candidate that we choose and it is a very tough decision to make.

We should know who the new leaders are by end of the day. To all the new leaders, just remember one word : RESPONSIBILITY. Be responsible to yourself, your people, your country, your race, and your religion. And remember, at the end, you will be judged and be penalized or rewarded for your actions!

Let us all think before voting…
